Each week we will celebrate a "Star Student" from our class. I want your child to shine this week so please look over the week's activities. Call me if you have any questions!
Monday- Please complete & bring in the "All About Me" poster your child receives the week prior to their special week. Tuesday- Bring in a favorite picture book to talk about with the class. Be prepared to read your favorite part/page from the book. Wednesday- On the sheet provided, your child should write 3 questions about him/her to which he/she knows the answer. Your child will ask the class the questions and we will try to guess the answers. For example: Do you know my favorite animal? Thursday- Please send in or email me a short letter written to your child telling us a funny story or special thoughts about your child. Shhhh...let the letter be a surprise for your child. It will be read to the class so that we can all see them through your eyes. Friday- The class will make a quilt of compliments for your child while they enjoy free time!
About Mrs. Jaynes
I hope you had a fun filled summer and are eager to begin a new school year. I'm very excited to be spending this year with your children! I would like to welcome you to my class and tell you a little bit about myself.
I'm a Denver native and come from a family full of teachers. I am a Cherry Creek High School Graduate. I received my degree in Elementary Education with a specialty in reading at the University of Iowa (go Hawks!).
I've spent my teaching career in the Cherry Creek School District, working at Willow Creek, Cottonwood Creek and CHVE. During my career, I've taught 1st-3rd grades and think second graders are the best ;-)
In addition to teaching, I enjoy reading, shopping, spending time outdoors and traveling with my family. We had a great summer with volleyball, family adventures, out of town company and visits to the mountains.
I'm married to Chris and have two great kids, Abby (17), who goes to Cherry Creek High School and Carter (20), who goes to college at Purdue University in Indiana. We also have a 4 year-old Sheepadoodle named Baxter. We're always busy with everyone's activities!
I strive to create a warm and inviting classroom and will focus on building a classroom community. Behavior and classwork expectations are also a big part of our classroom environment. I believe in every single one of my students. Each of them has the potential to succeed in school and in life. I encourage my students to strive to be their best.
